One moment, please.Logic pro x projects external hard drive free
To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. Can I store all of my logic projects on an external hard drive? If so, is it as simple as just dragging and dropping all my project files from my internal drive onto my new external drive?
Are there any risks when doing this? Such as losing sound effects, plug ins, audio files, etc.? Would doing this slow down the program at all? Posted on Nov 5, PM. Page content loaded. If you keep your projects saved in the "package" file, the one with just one icon, moving the project icon on the external drive will do the job. If you work with all the separated files format not the package file single icon but audio files folder, etc. Question: Q: logic pro x projects on external hard drive?

Very minimal risk. While SSD options seem to always be the best, fastest and most reliable in most cases , they can be very expensive and out of the question for weekend hobbyists or those looking to get their carrier off the ground on a budget. Having said that, a reasonably priced HDD will more than suffice just about any home project studio.
I personally lean on the side of caution and tend to opt for brand names. LaCie and G-Drive have both been very good to me over the years in terms of external options. That way you have the option of running intensive libraries and instruments from your internal, while still affording you lots of terabytes on your much less expensive external HDD. It has never failed and streams large sample libraries just fine. When it comes to SSD options, prices begin to soar through the roof.
This is essentially an external hub that connects loads of external solid state drives to your Mac via Thunderbolt. Clearly these kinds of solutions are ideal for serious content creators, but are more than likely overkill for everyone else.
Even as someone that does professional recording and production work on a regular basis, this is still a little out of my league despite really needing it. See anything cool in the world of music production we missed? My Studio. Moving projects to external drive? Hi Logic dudes!
So my Imac ssd drive is getting pretty full with new projects and I was hoping to move them onto an external drive, so I have enough space to install software. Is it as simple as moving the Logic project folder to the drive? My old projects are all on this external drive, but I have alot of issues with "file not found search" which i am hoping to avoid with this move. Also my old projects pop up and say Sylenth and H delay etc not found, even thought they are installed? Many thanks KayD. If you use third-party sample players, or things like EZDrummer and friends you will need to make sure you either "bounce in place" the audio for these tracks before you try to share them.
The version of Logic Pro that you are using is important - later versions do not support bit AU plugins, so you may need to do some updating. Thanks Facej I have bought a backup drive for my external so will give it a try when I get a chance.
